Hey,

I want to oil my bearings. I've read the phrase 'sewing machine oil' amongst others, but I don't know what will be ok and what won't (not WD40, ok, I know that now) or where to get it from. Can anyone advise or let me steal a little from them?

Ta. x

Comically, I also have Bones Speed Cream. However, when I bought it, Simon read it wrong and thought it said 'Boner Speed Cream' and had a shocked look on his face. Classic!

Soak your bearings in white spirit in a non cerrosive glass jar for about a day to clean them. The dirt should fall to the bottom of the jar. Its good to transfer the bearings in to a fresh liquid just to make sure they are all super shiny and clean. To get rid of excess dirt scrub them with an old toothbrush or the toothbrush of someone you dont like. you can hear the grit and feel the muck when losening the bearing. Try spinning them with your fingers and see how quickly they hissssss- they should go "hsssssssssss" puis...apres ca ...blast with a cool hair dryer or leave on a rag to drain off excess fluid, then check all are spinnable and non gritty, try to repeat process if you are really peaved by the bastard ones that fail to spin nicely or just accept it if some of them have had it. Put back in to you wheels and squirt the oil in to the bearings as the wheels as the go round. Leave sunny side up until you think its all absorbed. Then do the others in unicen.
It certainly works for my spinners, but try not to over do it on the oil- its purpose is to lubricate. If there is loads of dirt and grit in you bearings oil will just make it worse
(machine oil is recommended among speed skaters as is citrus oil )
