Hi Dames,

I fancy getting some new bearings before coming back to training. I have spotted some ABEC 9's on ebay and am tempted by them. They sell them in packs of 10 (stupid number) or packs of 50.

I was thinking that if any dames want to go in with me and Mr Lashes then we could split a pack of 50 into 3 sets at a cost of £10.99 each. This would mean that there would be 2 bearings left over which I guess could be painted and sold on our merch stand.

I think they look ok. If anyone knows that they are the wrong size please let me know!

And if anyone would like to join us in the purchase let me know too.

I'm gonna be a bit useless here and say that if you're gonna buy new bearings, buy Bones Reds. I've read a lot of testimonies from experienced skaters that you should go for brand (Swiss made if possible) over ABEC rating, and I can seriously vouch for the sheer quality of Reds. They're a middling price, and they will do you good. They will treat you nice, last you long, and even make you dinner. If you're gonna invest in bearings and you're not at the crazy EVERYTHING I EARN GOES INTO DERBY I DON'T EVEN EAT ANYMORE SO I CAN BUY PLATE UPGRADES stage I don't think it'll be a bad decision. I certainly didn't regret putting out (oo-er) a bit more and getting mine. It's like gliding on a greased eel!

Hi Typhoid,

Thanks for that advice. I might just do that. I'm always tempted by a bargain and perhaps should just invest in something good like Bones.

Hmmmm I'll see how bad the rattle is on Saturday!

I have bought cheap abec 9s in the past and yes the bearings are of a aeronautic grade, the casing however is of cheap and rubbishy material making those abec 9's perform like wet porridge.

With the ebay thing, you can go for the 50 and use them as outdoor or just in casers if they are not too good, otherwise trial them with 10 pack. It is so easy to spend too much money on things like this when all you need to do is get kick ass, you get kick ass and you could skate on house bricks and still beat down.
